West Somerset Railway Spring Gala

Here's a selection of pictures from the WSR's Spring Gala.

1450 and her Autocoach stand at Minehead having arrived with the morning service from Bishops Lydeard.

1450 going 'on shed' at Minehead.

6024 King Edward I at Watchet heading to Bishops Lydeard.

6960 Raveningham Hall at Minehead

7828 Odney Manor (as Norton Manor) at Minehead.

6960 Raveningham Hall at Minehead shed.

70000 Brittania at Minehead.

WRS's 9351 arriving at Watchet.

6024 King Edward I backs onto the 1500 service to Minehead at Bishops Lydeard.

Waiting for the off . .

At journeys end for the day 6024 stands at Minehead having arrived with the 1500 from Bishops Lydeard. Time ticks away on the loco's boiler ticket with just 24 days left before she is stripped for major overhaul which is rumoured to take up to 3 years to complete.

6024 goes on shed for the night.

A final look at Charles Benjamin Collett's greatest machine at Minehead. I've been on many mainline tours behind 6024 visiting destinations like Kingswear (for Dartmouth!), London, Weymouth and Shrewsbury. Here's hoping it isn't 3 years before she's barking out of Bristol Temple Meads at the head of a Mainline Express again - there's no sight or sound like it!
